Mobile video is almost half of mobile traffic

In 2010 video accounted for 40% of all mobile traffic. That is not insignificant by any measure. It is guessed that in 2011, we are jumping up to 60%. That clearly is even bigger. The interesting part of this is that while it has never been easier to get video on your mobile device, good video nonetheless, only about 10% of us are responsible for these numbers. As it seems, a small portion of folks are monopolizing nearly half our available bandwidth all alone. We have been saying for quite some time now that AT&T majorly dropped the ball

Tablet fever

As we mentioned here on more than one occasion, CES was overrun by the tablet sensation. As was widely reported, CES had more tablets that one could shake a stick at. This morning at breakfast a client asked me where I thought technology was heading and these types of phenomenon make it such that you don’t need a crystal ball or be some techno-luminary to decipher this code: the desktop is dead and the laptop is circling the drain. To add to this Apple is cranking out new processing paradigms, Google is releasing an OS that is a ground-up

The art of the iPad

In the midst of all the “its just a big iPod touch” and “why are they killing Flash” and all of the other various issues surrounding iPad we are finally starting to see that for the true craft person, arguments mean nothing, the work says it all. I recently came across an article (that can be seen here) that highlighted a few interesting uses of the iPad. As professionals tasked with inventing things to do with this device for our customers I am constantly smiling at that which folks create using this really big iPod touch. (that was a

Flash mades it way on the iPhone/Pad

We have been making websites here for quite some time. We have been using Flash here for almost as long. At one point in our time line I can actually remember making whole websites entirely out of Flash and wondering why the world was not doing the same. Then we all grew up and realized that this was a bad idea. The world however did largely pick Flash up for a ton of things which we all still enjoy today. That being said the world has progressed yet again and Flash is no longer a requirement to do some

Why will Flash never come to iPhone? We now know.

One of the biggest questions we get when it comes to iPhones/iPads is “why won’t Apple put Flash on it?”. While it has largely been speculative up to now, Steve laid down the law today and clearly laid out, in gruesome detail, why Flash won’t be on the devices now, or ever. There is no question that this is one of the most frank and brutally direct explanations I have ever seen and quite honestly I am extremely pleased he did it. You can read the article here to get all of the details we will gloss over here.

iPad and Education

The iPad is new. The iPad is fun. The iPad is confused; at least for now. To clarify, the machine itself is not confused, that would be insane. The people using it are confused. Steve and his pack of geniuses over at Apple have traditionally been whizzes at defining a need and filling it with some super sexy gadget that we all eventually have 5 of in the in closet in a few years. With the iPad though it has been a little different. This time they gave us the super sexy gadget and said “here are a few

New iPad

Well hello there iPad. Funny enough, the process was not at all what it was imagined to be. Our arrival at the store at 9:30 was already a half hour past the opening so I was for sure anticipating a line around the corner. To my surprise the line was expeditiously moving along and we were hurried in and as though they knew I was coming (ok, they knew) I had mine in hand in moments. I even scored a free cup of coffee thanks to the Apple staff. As with every Apple product I have ever purchased I
